AM3D Slated for North Carolina this August

AM3D Slated for North Carolina this August AM3D Slated for North Carolina this August AM3D Slated for North Carolina this AugustMay 20, 2016 - Registration is now open for the ASME Additive Manufacturing + 3D Printing Conference Expo (AM3D) - the only cross-industry event designed specifically for the engineering community. The conference, which will take place in Charlotte, N.C., this August, will feature a variety of keynotes, technical presentations, panel sessions and workshops focusing on the issues, challenges and solutions associated with each step of the additive manufacturing (AM) lifecycle.AM3D, which will run from Aug. 21 to 24 at the Charlotte Convention Center, will be held in conjunction with ASMEs International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC/CIE). One highlight of the AM3D program will be the keynote presentation by Jose Coronado, product manager for PTC, on Aug. 22. Coronado has more than 25 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, ranging from being a computeruntersttztes entwerfen und konstruieren/CAM user in a high-tech mold-making facility to holding a number of technical, sales and consulting roles during his tenure of 15 years at IBM de Mexico. Coronado, who joined PTC in 2008, is currently a product manager for the Creo Manufacturing application, which now include additive manufacturing capabilities.Nearly 40 additional speakers are also scheduled to appear at AM3D in Charlotte. These presenters include Ronald Adrezin, professor of mechanical engineering at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Bill Bihlman, president of Aerolytics William Fraizer, chief scientist, Air Vehicle Engineering, U.S. Naval Air Systems Command Leanne Gluck, deputy director for workforce and educational outreach at America Makes Chris Krampitz, director of innovation and strategy at UL Adam Rivard, additive manufacturing specialist at LAI International Brent Stucker, co-founder and chief exe cutive officer at 3DSIM and Doug Wenk, director of NX CAE product management at Siemens.Other AM professionals scheduled to speak during the conference include Dan Berrigan, additive manufacturing lead at the U.S. Air Force Research Lab Jesse Blankenship, chief executive officer at Frustum Inc. Shane Collins, director of additive manufacturing programs at CalRAM Stacey DelVecchio, additive manufacturing product manager at Caterpillar Ola Harrysson, professor and co-director of the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics at North Carolina State University Alberto Pique, head of the electronic and optical materials and sensors section at the Naval Research Laboratory Krishnan Suresh, co-founder and CEO of SciArt and Jennifer Wolk, additive manufacturing lead at the Naval Surface Warfare Center. On Aug. 21, AM3D participants will have the opportunity to attend their choice of special workshops, including the Design for AM Workshop, which will provide attendees with the fundament als for successful AM optimized design, and the Topology Optimization Workshop, which will show attendees how AM can help them rethink their product design process. The Model Based Definition and Engineering Workshop, will offer an overview of 3D model-based definition (MBD) in the context of a model-based enterprise (MBE), while the fourth session, the Simulation for AM Design Workshop, will provide a review of how to apply simulation tools to evaluate AM part designs. The conference will also feature a number of networking opportunities, including a reception at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and an exhibitor reception where conference attendees will have the chance to will have the opportunity to meet the industry professionals taking part in the exposition. AM3D will also host the 2016 IAM3D Challenge, the ASME student competition that offers mechanical and multi-disciplinary engineering undergraduates the opportunity apply their additive manufacturing skills to re-engineer existing pr oducts or create new designs that minimize energy consumption or improve energy efficiency.Attendees who sign up for AM3D by July 1 will save up to $100 on registration.
